"Community Service is essential to an on-going recovery. People who learn how to give back to a community have greater chances of having a successful recovery. "
George Gramby, founder of 'Beginnings' and the spirit of the George Gramby Day Observance Committee.
“When he was sick, all he said was that he wanted to help save people’s lives, . . He showed me what courage was about.”
"Gramby passed away from AIDS in 1992, and the town, with the help of the George Gramby Observance Committee, honors his legacy with a day of fun in the sun and an awards ceremony, recognizing those who have demonstrated a desire to help others and who embody characteristics of the late substance abuse counselor."
George Gramby was the epitome of selflessness. As a tradition, individuals who exemplify the characteristics of George by committing themselves to helping others are also honored on George Gramby Day and presented with a Humanitarian Award. To nominate anyone for consideration, please email name, contact info and Bio to firstname.lastname@example.org
" George was the first one to plant the seed that there is a life after drugs and alcohol. . . we started the George Gramby Day Observance Committee to carry on that message. . ."
